Overview
PGAL is Sub-Frost’s aluminum-safe propylene glycol, built on an organic-acid (OAT) inhibitor system that contains no nitrites, amines, borates, or phosphates. Instead of a phosphate film, organic-acid salts coat every metal surface for corrosion protection, with azoles added to supplement protection of soft metals like copper, brass, solder, and aluminum.
That chemistry lets PGAL protect all commonly used metals, including aluminum, up to at least 350°F, making it the correct choice for high-aluminum-content systems and boilers operating above 150°F where conventional phosphate-inhibited fluids can fall short. Its organic-acid depletion rate gives a service life at least as long as phosphate-based fluids.
Applications
- All-aluminum heat transfer systems
- Boilers & systems operating above 150°F
- Mixed-metal systems requiring phosphate-free chemistry
